All the spoons of the current record holder are teaspoons.
The owner of a museum in the U.S. state of Iowa has claimed that he possesses 38,162 spoons, which is enough to secure a new Guinness World Record.
Kimi Pohle, owner of the Mississippi Spoon Gallery in Davenport, gathered nearly two dozen volunteers and spent more than five hours presenting the full inventory of her spoons to Guinness World Records as evidence.
The current record for the largest collection of spoons is held by Australian individual Des Warren, whose collection of 30,000 teaspoons was established in 1990.
Kimi said she is confident that this record will soon be hers, as her collection now stands at 38,162 spoons.
Kimi told local media that all the spoons of the current record holder are teaspoons, while she has teaspoons, salt spoons, mustard spoons, gilded-edge spoons, and century-old spoons.
She mentioned that her habit of collecting spoons began when her great-grandmother, who used to have tea parties with her when she was young, gifted her 127 spoons.
